Towards eID Authentication: Readiness Assessment System for ThaID Integration

ThaID is a national digital identity platform designed to improve citizen services and expand access to online government services in Thailand. While the platform offers significant potential, integration challenges persist due to government agencies’ fragmented and independently developed legacy information systems. These disparities hinder the seamless development of interfaces with the ThaID system. This study proposes a systematic methodology and conceptual framework to assess the key factors influencing the readiness of legacy systems for secure and effective integration with ThaID. The research identifies 11 critical factors that underpin system readiness. The findings reveal that significant barriers include technological constraints inherent in outdated systems, limited availability of skilled technical personnel, and the absence of standardized integration protocols. These insights underscore the need for targeted modernization strategies, comprehensive capacity-building initiatives, and the development of unified technical standards, all of which can collectively support more efficient and secure adoption of the ThaID platform across government sectors.
